The Coromandel Peninsula is of volcanic origin. This is still visible when looking at the rugged landscape. There is some thermal activity at Hot Water Beach. During low tide you can dig your own bath tub at the beach and relaxe in the hot water. Huge Kauri trees have been logged there and gold has been and still is found there. At certain beaches there are gemstones in big quantities.
We take you on a tour from Mt. Maunganui (Port of Tauranga) along the coast of the Western Bay of Plenty and then through Waihi where you can have a look at the working open pit goldmine. We then continue to Hahei and have a 1.5 hour guided walk to Cathedral Cove and depending on the tide a stop at Hot Water Beach. Then we take you back to Mt. Maunganui (Port of Tauranga) not later than 4.00 pm.
